CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF DEVELOPMENTAL SERVICES DDS is the agency through which the State of California provides services and supports to children and adults with developmental disabilities.
DDS – EARLYSTART Families whose infants or toddlers have or are at risk for developmental delay or disability can receive an “Early Start” in the State of California. Teams of service coordinators, healthcare providers, early intervention specialists, therapists, and parent resource specialists can evaluate and assess an infant or toddler and provide appropriate early intervention services to children eligible for California’s Early Intervention system of services.
DDS FORMS The Department of Developmental Services’ forms are in Adobe Acrobat portable document format (PDF). A majority of the fill-in Developmental Services (DS) forms may be “Save” using the free Adobe Reader 7 or later. These forms can be completed online but cannot be submitted electronically. After completion, they should be printed and mailed to the appropriate party.

AGNEWS DEVELOPMENTAL CENTER Agnews Developmental Center was established by an act of the California Legislature in 1885 as a facility for the care of the mentally ill. The first patients were received in 1888. Individuals with developmental disabilities were first admitted to a special habilitation program activated in 1965. Programs for the mentally ill were discontinued in 1972, and the center has been utilized exclusively for the care and treatment of persons with developmental disabilities since that time. The population on January 30, 2008 was 184. (
CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH SERVICES CDHS is part of the California Health and Human Services Agency. The CDHS is one of the largest departments in State government, with over 5,000 employees working in its Sacramento headquarters and over 60 field offices throughout the State. Institute supports critical research designed to understand the causes and to develop effective diagnoses, treatments, preventions, and, ultimately, cures for autism, fragile X and other neurodevelopmental disorders.

Association of Regional Center Agencies (ARCA) The Association shall function as a leader and advocate in promoting the continuing entitlement of individuals with developmental disabilities to all services that enable full community inclusion. The Association shall also participate in the development of public legislative policy and serve as a focal point for communication, education, training and prevention services.
